Numerical Simulation of Boulder Fluid–Solid Coupling in Debris Flow: A Case Study in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province, China

Boulders mixed with debris flows roll downstream under interactions flow slurry, which poses a great threat to the people, houses, bridges, and other infrastructure encountered during their movement. The catastrophic in Zhouqu County, occurred on 7 August 2010, was used as an example study motion accumulation characteristics of boulders flows. In this study, fluid–solid coupling model utilizing general moving objects collision renormalization group turbulent FLOW-3D software, treating different shapes rigid bodies viscous flow. Numerical simulation results show that method can be determine parameters submerged at times, such centroid velocity, angular kinetic energy, coordinates. research employed herein provide reference for studying movement mechanisms, impact force calculations, aid designing engineering control structures.
